1972 AL Championship Series Game 2

October 8, 1972

Oakland's Ken Holtzman shut down the New York batters and drove in 3 runs with 2 hits, almost single-handily winning Game 2 for the A's 4-0. Holtzman went the distance, getting a shutout victory and evening the Series 1 game to 1. Reggie Jackson opened the scoring for Oakland with a solo blast in the 2nd inning off Yankee starter Mel Stottlemyre. Before the inning was over Holtzman had driven in 2 more runs and had enough run support to win the game. The two teams have the day off tomorrow and head to Oakland for the last 3 games of the 5 game Series.
