Center fielder Reggie Jackson hit for the cycle and had 5 RBI and Dave
Hamilton was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game as the Boston Red Sox were badly beaten by the Oakland A's, 11 to
1.
Jackson had a big evening at the plate. He stroked a one-base hit in the 1st
inning, doubled resulting in a run in the 3rd inning, tripled bringing in two
baserunners in the 4th inning and blasted a two-run home run in the 8th
inning. Oakland finished with 17 hits in the victory.
The victory went to Hamilton(4-5) who went the distance allowing 1 run. John
Curtis(3-5) suffered the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 7
runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.
Jackson was in a good mood after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the
ball real well now. I made some adjustments last week and they are paying
off. That's what this game is about. making adjustments as the season goes
along.'
