1972 AL Game of Note

Wilbur Wood got his 4th complete game win of the season as the Chicago White Sox handed the Cleveland Indians their first defeat of the season 3-1. Wood was excellent on the mound again, but he finally gave up his 1st earned run of the season in the 9th inning on an Alex Johnson homerun. His scoreless inning streak was ended at 34.

Wilbur Wood completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Chicago
White Sox beat the Cleveland Indians by a score of 3 to 1.
 
Wood(4-0) put on a good performance.  He allowed only 6 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings.  Chicago totaled 7 hits on the night.  
 
Milt Wilcox(2-1) took the loss.  He gave up 3 runs and 6 hits in 4 innings.
