Billy Williams had 4 hits and 6 RBI at Houston The Astrodome where the Chicago
Cubs beat the Houston Astros by the score of 16 to 7.
Williams provided much of the offense. He doubled which was good for two runs
in the 1st inning, lined a one-base hit scoring a run in the 4th inning,
slapped a base-hit which brought home a run in the 7th inning and blasted a
two-run home run in the 9th inning. Chicago kept the scorekeepers busy in
the 4th inning which saw them plate 9 runs on 7 hits. Chicago managed 16
hits in their victory.
The win went to Fergie Jenkins(3-0) who allowed 7 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings.
Ken Forsch(0-1) took the loss. He got hammered, allowing 9 hits and 3 walks
in 3 and 2/3 innings.
'I felt great out there tonight,' Williams said, 'Maybe I should make a
regular habit of getting to bed on time!'
