Scipio Spinks took a no-hitter into the 7th inning at Veteran's Stadium where
the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8 to 0.

Spinks(7-6) was simply too much for the Philadelphia batters. He allowed only
1 hit and 4 walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.83 to 3.55. The
right-handed Spinks lost a no-hitter when Greg Luzinski singled with one out
in the 7th inning. St. Louis finished with 11 hits in the victory.

Bill Champion(2-11) suffered the loss. 'Our guys just weren't seeing the ball
tonight.' Frank Lucchesi said. 'Spinks simply dominated us.'
