Bob Moose pitched a 1-hit shutout against the Montreal Expos tonight as the Pittsburgh Pirates won the game 3-0. Moose threw a gem against the Expos, allowing only a single in the 5th inning while striking out 8 and walking none. He faced the minimum number of batters in the game as the lone base runner was immediately eliminated by a doubleplay.

Moose(2-1) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Montreal
hitters.  He allowed just 1 hit and no walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to
2.25.  The Montreal bats were silent in the 9th.  
 
Bill Stoneman(2-4) absorbed the loss.  He gave up 7 hits and 3 walks in 8
innings.
